With this practical and secure application, you can send and receive money in seconds, make online or in-store purchases, withdraw cash without a card, and much more — all from your mobile phone, whether through the app itself or your bank's channels. MB WAY combines simplicity, speed, and cutting-edge technology so you can live your daily life with total freedom and confidence, wherever you are.
The MB WAY app is available for smartphones and tablets with Android and iOS systems.
The MB WAY app is available from version 2.0. We recommend that you always update to the latest version to take advantage of new features and experience improvements.
However, if the device is modified (e.g., jailbroken or with an altered ROM), we cannot guarantee its proper functioning, so these mobile phones are not supported. Downloading, subscribing to, and using the MB WAY app is free of charge. MB WAY does not charge any fees for operations performed within the app. Only transfers may incur costs charged by the Banks. To find out which applicable fee structure(s) apply, users must consult the Bank(s) with which they have subscribed to the service. There are 28 participating banks, covering more than 95% of Portuguese banks.
Online purchases using a phone number, MB NET card purchases, as well as the generation and use of MB NET cards, in-store purchases using QR Code or NFC, and MB WAY withdrawals are all free, as is the use of MB Challenge benefits.
Additionally, the MB WAY app clearly displays to the user the amount, if any, that will be applied before sending money through an immediate transfer, allowing the user to cancel the operation at that moment.

The MB WAY app allows you to send money instantly to your contacts, request money, and split the bill with your friends, withdraw money without a card, generate MB NET virtual cards to make your online purchases securely, and also make all your purchases at participating merchants online and in person.
You must go to MULTIBANCO with any card associated with the service, select the MB WAY option, and then the option corresponding to your mobile number. After that, simply select the 'Change MB WAY PIN' key and set a new PIN.

Yes, if it's for associating a second device. But if you intend to use the MB WAY app on a tablet (Android or iOS), it is necessary for the same to have the SIM card with the number you wish to use in MB WAY.
Yes, you can. Just download the MB WAY app on the desired device and enter the mobile number and MB WAY PIN associated with your account.
Devices with the same MB WAY account share the same information and notifications.
The user should contact the issuing bank and report what has happened.
There is no button to log out in the app.
You can, however, uninstall and reinstall the app on your device to log in with the desired account.
If you wish to cancel your MB WAY account and delete your data, you can do so in our App from your account. To do this, simply access your profile through the More Menu -> Edit as demonstrated in the images below.

On the "Edit" screen, select delete MB WAY account.

Finally, you will have 10 minutes after completing the operation at the MULTIBANCO to confirm this change in the app using the new mobile number.
You can use the MB WAY app in Dark Mode to minimize eye strain and save battery. You can always change the mode in the 'Settings' menu under 'More', in 'Dark Mode'.
This feature is available for Android with an operating system version 5 or higher and for iOS with a version 13 or higher.
The Advertiser Identifier or IDFA (identifier for advertisers) is a marker that allows monitoring actions within the MB WAY app and third-party apps/sites. This marker became available on iOS devices with version 14.5 or higher and is only active with the user's consent.
Information collected about behavior within the MB WAY app and other sites/apps is securely stored and enables improvements to the experience, for example, by enhancing the relevance of displayed ads based on your activity and the sites/apps used.
By enabling IDFA, you can

2. Learn about MB WAY campaigns and features
3. See relevant and appropriate ads based on your interests and needs
The collected information is processed and stored securely.
On the home screen, view your IBAN information by tapping "View details" below the card associated with the account. The option to copy the IBAN is also available.

You will receive an SMS with an activation code that will be automatically filled in the app, and the service will be ready to use.
The sign-up and registration data for MB WAY for the user will always be your mobile number and the MB WAY PIN.
To sign up for MB WAY through the app, you must have your mobile number updated with your Bank and follow the following steps:
1st step: Download the MB WAY app and enter your mobile number
2nd step: Select your bank from the provided list
3rd step: Allow automatic reading or manually enter your card details;
4th step: Set your 6-digit MB WAY PIN.
5th step: Activate MB WAY using the activation code received via SMS

2nd step – Scan the card using your smartphone's camera, and MB WAY will automatically read the card details - Number and Expiry, or click the "manually enter card details" button and manually enter your card details. Finally, confirm by entering your MB WAY PIN (6 digits) or Touch ID/Fingerprint;
If the card you want to add does not belong to one of the banks listed above, you should add it through MULTIBANCO.
2 – Through MULTIBANCO:
To add a bank card in the MB WAY app through MULTIBANCO, simply select the "MB WAY" option, "MB WAY Adhesion" and enter your mobile number and the same MB WAY PIN (from your active service). Then, just check the notification box in your MB WAY app and confirm the last four (4) digits of the card number you associated in MULTIBANCO.
It is possible to associate up to a maximum of 10 cards.
It may mean that you did not enter the same mobile number and the same MB WAY PIN that you set when joining MB WAY. Or, you may have exceeded the time limit for confirming the new card in the app.
No. It is only possible to associate a mobile number and an email.
No. There may be situations where the cards are not enabled to join MB WAY. In these cases, we recommend that you contact the issuing bank of that card to obtain all the necessary information.
Yes. You can join and use MB WAY with international numbers associated with a Portuguese bank card that is part of the MB WAY service.
No. You can use the MB WAY features with international numbers without any additional cost.
You can join MB WAY with an international number through MULTIBANCO or in the MB WAY app.
If you want to join via MULTIBANCO, after entering your PIN, select the option 'Deposits and Other Operations>MB WAY International Number Enrollment' and follow the on-screen instructions.

To send money, simply choose one of the cards associated with the service and select the 'send money' option. Then, select the contact to whom you will send money, indicate the amount, and confirm the operation by entering your MB WAY PIN.
Your friend will receive a notification on how you sent them money.

Additionally, the MB WAY app, before 'Sending money' through an immediate transfer, clearly shows the user the amount, if any, that will be applied, allowing the user to cancel the operation at that moment.
You can send up to 2,000€ by transfer.
The maximum monthly limit for receiving is 5,000€ and 50 transactions.
Sending money with MB WAY is available immediately, to the recipient's account, regardless of the bank.
In addition, to send money with MB WAY, you just need to select the contact you want to send money to. You will never have to ask your friends for their IBAN again.
Yes, it can. The contact will receive an SMS informing them that there is a pending transfer to be accepted and that they must join MB WAY within a 48-hour period.
By joining within this period, they will receive the money directly into their account. If they do not join within the specified time, there will be no money withdrawn from their account.
Yes. The user who will receive the transfer must already be registered on MB WAY.
This may happen because your contact is not the primary account holder. If you do not recognize the name, confirm that you entered the correct mobile number and that this is the recipient to whom you want to send money.
MB WAY transfers are immediate, so there is no mechanism that allows canceling these transfers after confirmation in the app. Only transfers that are in a pending state can be canceled. Contact your bank to understand how you should proceed in these situations.
However, when sending money, it is possible to confirm the name of the account holder of the destination before confirming this transfer. The name of the account holder may be different from the contact, if it is not the primary holder. If you do not recognize the name, confirm that it is the recipient to whom you intend to send money.
In the case of mistakenly sending money to another recipient, you should try to contact them as soon as possible to resolve the situation. To verify the authenticity of your transfer, you can download the transaction receipt from your MB WAY app Activity and send it to the recipient.
You can send money via a mobile number to Spain and Italy.
The cost of sending money through MB WAY to users abroad has no additional fees and is subject to the same guidelines applied in Portugal.
The MB WAY complies with all security standards. You can confirm that the recipient is the user you know by checking the recipient's name presented in the transfer confirmation step.
The same limits apply for sending money as you have for MB WAY money transfers in Portugal.

MB WAY withdrawals follow the same rules as card withdrawals at the MULTIBANCO network. The available amounts for withdrawal are in multiples of 10, up to a maximum of 200€ per transaction. Remember that you can withdraw up to 400€ per day at MULTIBANCO.
You can generate as many codes as you wish, up to the daily withdrawal limit of 400€ at MULTIBANCO.
The code is valid for half an hour. After this limit, the generated code expires, and it is necessary to repeat the process to generate a new code in the MB WAY app.
Just access the Activity menu, select the activity corresponding to the generated withdrawal code, and finally, select the 'Cancel' option.

No. The generated code can only be used once.
At the moment you are selecting or setting the amount associated with the withdrawal code, you will have the possibility to share the code with another person by accessing your contact list. Additionally, when generating the code in the MB WAY app, you can select the 'Share' option. You can then share it with a friend through the existing contact network on your mobile phone.
After using the code, you will receive a notification informing you that the code was successfully used.
It is the option that allows you to use a MULTIBANCO ATM or an ATM EXPRESS machine without needing to insert a bank card.
At the MULTIBANCO ATM (or ATM EXPRESS network), press the green button and select the “Use MULTIBANCO” option.
Next, open the MB WAY app, choose the card you want to use, and select the “Use MULTIBANCO” option.

The contacts you selected will receive a notification in the MB WAY app informing them of your money request for the bill split. As each one accepts the request, you will receive the money immediately in your account.
The bill split has a validity of 7 days. During this period, recipients can accept or reject the bill split.
If the bill split expires, contacts who did not respond to the bill split will no longer be able to accept or reject it.

It is a 'contactless' wireless technology that allows the exchange of information between devices when they are in contact, without any need for additional configurations. In mobile phones with an NFC antenna/sensor, it is activated in the same place where other communication options such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi are configured.
NFC purchase is available on iOS and Android operating systems. For Apple, you need an iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later and have your Apple account (Apple ID and App Store) set up for countries within the European Economic Area (EEA). To check if your Android device has this technology, you should access your device's settings menu or consult the manufacturer's instruction manual.
To be able to pay with MB WAY NFC, you must:
1 – Activate the NFC sensor on your mobile phone;
2 – Set the MB WAY app as the default/preferred app for making MB WAY NFC payments.
These two settings are performed in your mobile phone's settings.

Yes, whenever you wish, you can suspend and reactivate payments at a merchant with Authorised Payments.
If the purchase exceeds the limit you set for the month, you will receive a notification to accept the purchase and authenticate with your MB WAY PIN.

MB NET is a service that allows you to make secure purchases at any online store that accepts VISA, MasterCard, or AMEX cards. Instead of using the real data of a debit or credit card, virtual MB NET card data is used, generated through the MB WAY app.
To create an MB NET card through the MB WAY app, simply follow these steps:
1st step – Access the MB WAY app and select the option 'Create MB NET Card'.
2nd step – Select the desired card type 'Single Purchase', 'Multiple Purchases', or 'Recurring Payment'.
3rd step – Set the maximum card value (minimum of 5€) and validity, if you have selected the 'Multiple Purchases' or 'Recurring Payment' option.
4th step – Enter the MB WAY PIN.
The 'Single Purchase' card is the type of card that originated the MB NET service. The card was created based on the principle '1 purchase – 1 card'. In this sense, this type of card has a maximum validity of 2 months and allows a limited number of transactions (up to 4 transactions), regardless of the merchants. You can use this card, for example, to pay for your hotel reservation.
The 'Multiple Purchases' card has a maximum validity of 12 months and allows multiple purchases at the same merchant, as long as the total amount of purchases does not exceed the total amount defined by you at the time of card generation. This card is ideal for making your online purchases at the hypermarket.
The 'Recurring Payment' card has a maximum validity of 12 months and allows you to pay for your monthly subscriptions at a single merchant, as long as the total amount of your purchases does not exceed the monthly total amount defined by you at the time of card generation. This is an ideal card, for example, to pay for your Spotify subscription.
On your Merchant Card, you can set a monthly or total value.
The monthly value allows you to define the maximum amount you can spend per month with your MB NET card, and the total value corresponds to the maximum amount you can spend with your MB NET card until the end of its validity.
At the time of joining, the default maximum daily amount is 1,000€.
However, this value can always be changed in the app. Just go to the More menu to Settings to Security to Purchase Limits.
You must access the Activity menu in the app, select the MB NET activities, and you will be able to view the list of generated MB NET cards and the details of the transactions.
Just select the 'copy' option that appears below the MB NET card; this option copies the card number. The expiration date and CVV must be entered manually by the user. If the MB NET card details are hidden, select the 'Show details' option.
There is no cost to generate MB NET cards in MB WAY.
The amount set for an MB NET card is a purely 'virtual' value, as it remains in your bank account until the actual purchase is completed.
If the purchase does not take place, this amount will never be debited from your account.
If the purchase amount is less than the amount set for the MB NET card, only the purchase amount will be debited, with the remaining set amount staying in your account. For example, if you generate an MB NET card with a limit of 100 euros and the purchase is for 80 euros, only 80 euros will be debited from your account, leaving the remaining 20 euros in your account. In other words, the MB NET service does not imply, after the generation of a temporary card, the 'freezing' of the set amount for the same.
Yes, the merchant can process the refund to the MB NET card used for the purchase, even if the card has been canceled or expired.
If it is necessary to provide the card details to the merchant, simply access the activities menu, select MB NET activities, and choose the MB NET card you wish to check.
To view all data for an MB NET card, simply access the Activity menu, then MB NET Activity, and select the desired card.
As of January 1, 2021, the new strong authentication rules for online payments in European Union countries came into effect. These new rules consist of additional security measures to ensure the correct identification of the cardholder and validation of the transaction. Strong authentication is performed using 2 out of the 3 following factors: i) knowledge (something only the user knows, such as the PIN or password), ii) possession (something only the user possesses, such as a one-time password (OTP) via SMS or smartphone), and iii) inherence (something of the user that identifies them, such as a fingerprint).
For additional security in transactions, on all online purchases made on secure and certified websites based in European Union countries, authentication through a one-time password (OTP) via SMS, the MB WAY app, or the banking app may be required, as follows:
1. Your bank will configure your card for the 3DSecure service by providing your mobile number and authentication method (Emissor App or MB WAY App). This service allows, at participating merchants identified by the Verified By Visa and Mastercard Secure Code logos, to authenticate the cardholder;
2. During the online purchase, enter the usual card details;
3. The 3DS service will send a notification to your mobile phone for subsequent purchase validation in the app defined by your bank;
4. In the MB WAY app or the banking app, validate the purchase with your six-digit MB WAY PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID.
If notifications are disabled, check the notification in the activity area of the app.
When making online purchases with MB WAY through the mobile number operation, re-authentication is not required since this MB WAY operation includes the necessary security for online purchases.
The channel for confirming authentication depends on the bank, and it may be through the MB WAY app or directly in the bank's app.
If your bank has selected the MB WAY app, to securely make online purchases with authentication, follow these 3 steps:
1. Confirm with your bank that the 3D Secure authentication service is active on your bank cards – you can check this in your bank's app or in online banking;
2. Install the MB WAY app on your mobile phone and link your bank card;
3. Make your online purchases with your card and authenticate the transaction in MB WAY.
As an alternative, choose to make online purchases with MB WAY using the mobile number operation at merchants that accept this payment method.
After receiving the Authentication request in the app, you have 4 minutes to confirm in the App and return to the merchant's website to complete the operation.
You may need to repeat the authentication process to ensure the security of this online purchase. Recurring purchases from the same merchants or of lower amounts may not require authentication.

The Ser Solidário feature allows users to directly send donations to social institutions through MB WAY.
There are three ways to donate:
The user accesses MB WAY and selects the option 'Ser Solidário'. They choose the institution from a pre-defined list of possible institutions. Then, they enter the amount to send to the institution.
The user accesses MB WAY and selects the option 'Pay with MB WAY'. They scan the Solidary QR Code with the institution's logo. Then, they enter the amount to send to the institution.
The user accesses MB WAY and selects the option 'Ser Solidário'. They select the QR Code in the top right corner. Then, they enter the amount to send to the institution (only for Androids).
In No Ser Solidário, institutions are divided into two sections:
"Featured" – these 20 institutions are present on MB WAY and MULTIBANCO. For these institutions, it is possible to have a simplified invoice through the app for donations below 200€. For donations above 200€, the invoice is not issued through the app and the user must contact the institution to obtain it.
"More institutions" – these institutions receive their donation via MB WAY transfer. To obtain the invoice, you must contact the institution.
Donations have no associated cost, neither for the user nor for the institution. in physical stores with assisted sales.
To join the Ser Solidário program, an institution must submit an application to solidario@sibs.pt. The list of institutions that are part of Ser Solidário is reviewed periodically.
The Digital Receipt is a new feature of the MB WAY app. Once activated, this feature allows MB WAY users to choose whether they want to receive the receipts for their purchases made via QR Code in their app, instead of these being printed with each purchase.
It is also possible for the MB WAY user to define whether they want MB WAY to share their NIF and/or email with merchants for billing purposes. This sharing will occur through the app at the time of payment, for purchases made via QR Code.
To activate the new Digital Vouchers feature in MB WAY, go to Purchase Preferences, available under the 'More' tab in the MB WAY app.
Yes. After the new feature is activated, you will no longer receive physical receipts for all payments made through the MB WAY QR Code, on terminals that display the icon on the screen at the time of payment.
You can view the history of your transactions in the 'Activity' tab. By clicking on one of the purchase operations displayed in your activity history, you have the option to 'Get receipt', where, upon clicking, a digital receipt for your purchase will be sent to your email.
You can check the details of your MB WAY purchases for a period of 3 months, where at any time you can send the Digital Receipt to your email. If you have already done so, the receipt will be available for consultation in your email.
For now, both Digital Vouchers and the sharing of NIF and/or email for invoicing purposes are only available for payments made through the MB WAY QR Code operation.
With each purchase, at the moment of scanning the QR Code to proceed with payment, the option 'Share my data according to preferences for invoice issuance' is displayed on the screen, pre-selected with a green checkmark. If you do not wish to share your data for invoicing purposes for a specific purchase, simply remove the green checkmark so that your data will not be shared.
You can disable the Digital Vouchers feature and the sharing of your data at any time in your Purchase Preferences under the 'More' tab in the MB WAY App.

No. Only one NIF can be associated with each MB WAY profile. If the MB WAY user has enabled the sharing of their NIF and/or email in the app, and they wish to share a different NIF with the merchant for a specific purchase, they should, at the time of payment with the QR Code, remove the green checkmark that appears on the screen in the option 'Share my data according to preferences for invoice issuance'.
Thus, the data shared with MB WAY will not be shared for that specific purchase, and the new NIF can be shared verbally with the cashier to issue the invoice with a different NIF.

There are four types of devices to suit your preferences and needs: a wristband, two keychains, and a clip for your watch. Each device is available in vibrant color variations, including red, blue, gray, and black.
Get your MB WAY pulse through the MB WAY app by accessing MB WAY pulse.
If you do not see the MB WAY pulse access in your app, simply update the MB WAY app by going to your operating system's store (Play Store, App Store) and updating to the latest version.
The MB WAY pulse is only available for sale in the MB WAY app. Do not purchase the MB WAY pulse on unofficial websites or on second-hand item sales sites.
After receiving your MB WAY pulse, connect it to the MB WAY app by scanning the QR code on the chip found in the welcome kit you receive with your MB WAY pulse. After setting up the MB WAY pulse in the app, insert the chip into the device and you're ready to use it.
